Tucked away in the shadows of New York City's sometimes shady rented rehearsal spaces, the instrumental project Spindle was formed. Converging roots from all corners of the globe-Latin America, Turkey, Denmark, Australia, and the hills of West Virginia-the five members of the instrumental collective each bring a unique take on the urgency of the creation of this project. Though "diversity" has become an overused catch-all safeword as of late, nothing can better describe Spindle's members or its intoxicating sound.

In the highly-charged creative atmosphere of the city, the young musicians combine their variant artistic backgrounds and unique talents to bring forth a single vision of a new, fresh sound with a captivating groove. With a harmonic and improvisational departure point in Jazz of the 1960's, Spindle blends the tone colors of 1970's Fender Rhodes-based fusion with 21st century breakbeat sensibilities and world rhythms. Hardly self-indulgent improvisation, Spindle plays music FOR their listeners, feeding off of the energy of the unrelenting groove and communicating it to the audience.

The members of Spindle are all master musicians in their own right. They have paid their dues in the bands of such well-known artists as Billy Cobham, Maynard Ferguson, Maria Schneider, Giovanni Hidalgo and Dianne Schuur and are now combining experiences in this remarkable project. Spindle is: Kim Bock (Tenor and Soprano Saxophone, Bass Clarinet), Sila Cevikce (Fender Rhodes), Adam Armstrong (Bass), Emiliano Valerio (Percussion), and Brian Wolfe (Drums).
